Ever heard someone refer to the human condition? It makes being sound like a disease. When was the last time you heard someone refer to the canine condition? Canine's aren't special like we are it seems. What makes us special then? Drugs mostly. Well, not necessarily. Surely if you gave other animals the ability to alter their consciousness they'd make use of it. The human condition is living as part of civilization. I suppose in that way it is a disease. Like most diseases the longer you let it linger, the harder it is to cure. A newborn child would have a better chance surviving outside civilization than you or I.
Imagine someone living by themselves way out, away from civilization, living with what you would call a very severe form of synesthesia. They cannot distinguish any sense, it's all one big perceptual cocktail. Sound is to be heard and seen, and light to be felt and heard. Sounds confusing right? Maybe to us it does. If we lived our whole life like this though, maybe things would appear more clear. It would be easier to realise the lack of a gap between what is seen and what is heard, to perceive everything as their raw vibrations. I for one would feel this person would experience the universe in much purer a form than we ever could.
I've taken a liking to strings of late.
